Equine Care AQA Unit Awards
Learn about horse care, handling, health and welfare through practical, hands-on experiences with our horses and ponies. With courses suitable for beginners and experienced learners alike, there is something for everyone to enjoy and achieve.
During every half-term and school holiday (excluding Christmas and New Year), ADO offers therapeutic and educational activities for children, young people and adults through our Assisted Activities Programme.
As an Accredited AQA Training Academy, we provide a wide range of AQA Unit Awards in areas including:

- Bushcraft & Conservation
- Outdoor Learning
AQA Unit Awards recognise achievement and participation rather than formal qualifications. Learners receive an AQA certificate on successful completion, providing evidence of skills, experience and knowledge that may support future volunteering, education or employment opportunities.
Our programmes offer a meaningful alternative to traditional holiday clubs, allowing participants to develop new skills, build confidence and achieve recognised awards within a calm, supportive and therapeutic environment.
AQA Registration
A one-off annual AQA registration fee of £35 applies per learner. Once registered, participants can complete multiple AQA Unit Awards throughout the year. Course fees include ADO administration and certification processing, as well as additional enrichment activities such as bushcraft and campfire cooking.

Equine Assisted Activities
- 1 Hour: £55
- 2 Hours: £110
- Half Day (9am-12pm or 12.30pm-3.30pm): £160
- Full Day (9am-2pm): £270
We welcome both existing and new clients during school holidays, subject to assessment of needs. As a multi-agency organisation, we are also happy to work alongside families, schools and professionals to create bespoke programmes tailored to individual interests, needs and budgets.
